I took these over by the Silver Creek Country Club; there’s a little pedestrian bridge and seating area that overlooks part of the golf course and city. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to catch the sun setting due to traffic issues, but I’m still satisfied with the shots that came out. I was inspired to craft a cloak (100% made by me!) to pair with a white mask. For the shoot, I used 3 strobes: 2x SB-900s and an SB-800 with no modifiers other than the pullout diffuser and bounce card to create hard lighting and shadows to give the pictures a sense of mystery and my trusty D90 with the Nikon 24-70mm. This is my first out of state shoot. Yet alone, my first bring-my-gear-through-TSA experience. We ran on a pretty tight schedule because my stay only lasted for 24 hours. I flew in on a Friday night and began shooting once I arrived at the strip. Aya and Nick are two very pleasant people to be shooting with; they certainly had a few ideas that made my job a little bit easier. My ideas for the shoot were not necessarily the signatures from Las Vegas, but anything subtle that caught my eye (pretty lights and scenes). Hope you enjoy the pictures!
Went shooting on a cool Tuesday night out in downtown San Jose– totally not sketch (oh the bums and randoms). The theme behind this shoot was a darker, grungier, sharp style. We drove around for a while before I found a decent, dark alleyway with a brick wall. Apparently, DTSJ does not like narrow alleyways. We also drove by a small church front with an old looking double door that I absolutely adored and decided to shoot at. Here are the pictures below, please like and comment
We began our journey early on a Saturday morning at a Starbucks. By special request, Jeanne and Johnhan’s dog Squeegee was included in the photoshoot. We eagerly made our way down to Calero County Park where we strolled half a mile up an equestrian trail; boy was it obvious. The scenery was open with traces of life around: a picnic table, a worn down fence, and a small pond. I am very thankful for the Bay Area’s overcast as it provided the much preferred diffused lighting for the length of the shoot. Also to mention, I had two wonderful reflector assistants to lend me a helping hand! Everyone was easy to work with, including the adorably cute American Eskimo. With not much to do on a Saturday, I rounded up my friends Albert and Phuong for an impromptu photoshoot. Surprisingly, they are complete naturals and I did not have to instruct very much. Of course we were joking half the time which made it a very enjoyable morning at the Palo Alto Foothills Park. I’m also playing around with logos. I think it looks alright– inputs?
